National Service of Commemoration for Captain Scott and the Pole Party. St. Paul's Cathedral

A national Service of Commemoration for Captain R.F. Scott RN will be held in St. Paul's Cathedral at 11 am on 29th March 2012 to mark the centenary of the date of the last entry in Scott's diary. The congregation will be led by HRH the Princess Royal. the Bishop of London, the Lord Mayor of London, Members of Parliament and Ambassadors to the Court of St. James.

Entry to the service will be for ticket holders only.

The Royal Navy, the Royal Dragoon Guards (Captain Oates's Regiment) and the State Trumpeters of the Blues and Royals will provide step guards and play during the service and a peal of bells will follow the service at 12 noon.

From 3.30pm-4pm The Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines will Beat the Retreat in honour of Captain Scott and the Pole Party - by Captain Scott's statue in London. See separate listing for details of this public event.
