Evensong for Edward Wilson

Evensong at Gloucester Cathedral on 5th July 2012 will be held in celebration of the life of Dr Edward Wilson, Chief of the Scientific Staff of Captain Scott's expedition, who died with him on the return from the South Pole in March 1912.

July 2012 marks the 140th anniversary of Wilson's birth in Cheltenham. Gloucester Cathedral was his favourite building and often the subject of his drawings. His sledge flag hung in the Cathedral for some years, until it was sent to the Scott Polar Research Institute for conservation reasons.
