DESCRIPTION:Commemorating 100 years since the Terra Nova Expedition reached the South Pole the exhibition focuses on Dr Edward Wilson\'s role as Chief Scientist. It includes a number of Wilson\'s watercolour prints\, formerly belonging to the late Mr Eric Larg\, once resident of Burnside Cottage\, Glen Prosen\, the house used in the planning of the Terra Nova Expedition by Wilson and Scott. Also displayed is an original plaster marquette of the memorial built near to the cottage to acknowledge the strong connection the pair had to the area. The Kirriemuir connection to the expedition is also noted in one of the last letters Scott wrote from his tent. It was to JM Barrie\, author of Peter Pan and famous Kirriemarian\, as Barrie was Godparent to Scott\'s son Peter. The exhibition can be viewed free of charge Monday to Saturday 10am - 5pm\, until the 22nd June at the Gateway to the Glens Museum\, The Town House\, 32 High Street\, Kirriemuir\, Angus\, DD8 4BB.
